We have finally opened our own store! We had so many people coming to our basement to shop that we decided to open a shop. Our store not only carries our awesome fused glass and REcycled glass jewelry but also custom silk floral, one-of-a-kind crocheted fashion and Frank’s SUPER Salsa Seasoning Packets. We are excited!
Opening our store was pretty crazy! We fought the plumber….We fought the carpet people and even our sign people.
My question is this….Are people so busy that they can’t give quality customer service or once they give their word they can’t follow through? Talk about frustrations! We had a deadline and each of the above mentioned promised us there wouldn’t be any problems in getting things done by our April 1st deadline.
The plumber was so not organized and was not there most of the time he should have been, that Frank wound up having to finish his job. He finally showed up 1 week after we opened to finish his job…Thanks goodness Frank had his own business years ago and plumbing was part of what he did.
THEN the carpet layer was not able to spend much time with us either. He was pulled from one job to another and another and ….well, you get the idea. Luckily, two weeks before opening, it was done enough where we could start setting up from scratch. We had to scramble, but we made it!
So, how about it? Anyone out there have the answer as to why Customer Service seems to be a thing of the past? OR is it “small town mentality” ?
We Finally Did It!
What is “Recycled Glass” Jewelry Made Of?
We here at Imaginary Designs believe that “recycling” is really important! One thing we are all exposed to is “recycling” to make our world a better place to live in. Our little town in KS is going to start doing a full-fledged recycling program starting in 2012. We are encouraged!
Many ask us, “What is “Recycled Glass” Jewelry made of?” We just tell it like it is….any type of glass that is not nailed down! My husband, Frank, loves to experiment. We crush glass, use old marbles, drinking glasses, picture frame glass, window pane glass & old vases…just to name a few. Part of the fun we have using recycled glass items is the “treasure hunt”. You never know where or when you might find something cool to put into the kiln (oven) to melt down!
It is amazing how many family, friends and neighbors suddenly appear at your door with BAG-fuls of trash….to us it is just pure pleasure! Many nights find us in the design area of our studio cutting, arranging and firing that glass to make some of our best pieces!
Well, it is time to call it a day…..hmmmm….I wonder what that brown glass bottle over there would look like if I……:0)

You just never know what is going to happen when you are working with glass and a kiln (oven for baking glass). We love to make things out of marbles! So, recently, we had a wonderful accident in the kiln. A marble actually blew up (a little dramatic, I’m sure…) and viola some new fused glass earrings were born! We call them Micro-Dots. Tiny, little 1/4″ rounds of glass that were discovered quite by accident! At this time we have 9 different colors to choose from. If you love just a little something at your ears, check these out! Have a wonderful day!
Old Man Winter in Kansas…
Brrrrr!!! Is it cold out there! We have had 40 mph gusts today. Where did the sunshine go?? A great day for creating and shutting out the wind. Finished some fun crocheted items that I have designed in the last month. Will be glad to get the patterns put into the computer.
Christmas orders are beginning to come into the web site. Many wonderful things to choose from! People are starting to set up and take notice of all the hard work. Praise the Lord!!
Have a wonderful weekend!!
